At Five Year Celebration, Philadelphia Gay Tourism Caucus Announces Five New Goals
New efforts to promote region as a leading gay-friendly travel destination
With the continued support from all members of the Philadelphia Gay Tourism Caucus, the Caucus is excited to announce five new plans to position Philadelphia as a leading gay-friendly travel destination.
1. Expand gay sensitivity training to hotels, attractions, and
organizations
2. Install 36 new rainbow decaled street signs throughout
Philadelphia's "Gayborhood" as part of the Gay Street Signage.
Program, bringing the total to 72 street signs
3. Complete a three-year strategic plan, 2008-2011
4. Bid on gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, and transgender (GLBT)
conferences and conventions
5. Host regional, national, and international GLBT sporting
events
The Philadelphia Gay Tourism Caucus, founded in November 2002, is
a regional non-profit, tourism organization incorporated in the
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Its mission is to increase business
and grow the regional economy by increasing Philadelphia's share
of the $55 billion gay and lesbian travel segment. The
Philadelphia Gay Tourism Caucus engages in regional initiatives to
generate business and tax revenue, while increasing the appeal of
Philadelphia as a gay-friendly destination.
