| Papua New Guinea is a remarkably untamed land covering the east half of the island of New Guinea, conjoining with Irian Jaya, Indonesia. Today, the country is subject to the same problems facing many emerging nations, and its travel infrastructure is still in the early to middle stages of development. The bitter struggle for the islands during WWII left a large variety of ships, planes and other fascinating war wreckage for the dedicated wreck diver.
