Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay | Oman
Zighy Bay is located on a headland on the northern Musandam Peninsula in the Sultanate of Oman. It is set between dramatic mountains to the rear and a broad sandy beach in front. The Musandam Peninsula is an exclave region of the Sultanate of Oman, separated from the rest of the country by the United Arab Emirates. Zighy Bay is located 120 km, or 90 MINUTES drive from Dubai International Airport.
The peninsula’s rugged mountains which rise up to 2,100 meters above the coast and just into the Strait of Hormuz have a spectacular fjord-like look. It is no wonder that Musandam is also called “The Norway of the Middle East”.

Accommodations The 79 pool villas, plus The Private Reserve, and 2 Retreats are a blend of the surrounding traditional Omani, indigenous village style with modern amenities which provide luxury amidst local cultural themes. The villas offer a spacious, personal environment with rustic chic décor to reflect the brand’s positioning of Redefining Experiences.
Six Senses Spa The Six Senses Spa is a holistic oasis nestled into the Zighy Bay mountainside which provides nine treatment rooms, a juice bar and two Arabian Hammams inspired by centuries of tradition. The spa’s wide-ranging menu of regional and Six Senses signature treatments focuses on holistic and pampering therapies using only natural products. Treatments are administered by skilled international therapists and specialist practitioners who combine Eastern and Western techniques with modern day lifestyle programmes to balance the senses.

Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay and the Environment Being the first Six Senses Hideaway to open in the Middle East, the resort is indeed a true “Hideaway”. Located on the Musandam Peninsula in the very North of Oman, the Six Senses Hideaway at Zighy Bay is beautifully set in one of the secluded bays between the crystal clear Gulf of Oman and the Hajar Mountains that make up this unique peninsula, often referred to as the “Norway of the Middle East” due to its fjord-like shapes. The Musandam Peninsula is of great interest to geologists because of its unique exposure of fossils. The mountains are made up of old coral and sediments that made up the seabed of what used to be a sea.
Despite the rough soil conditions of the Musandam, resilient tree species and bushes remain green throughout most of the year. One of them is the Sidr tree, a traditionally important tree for this region. Its delicate yellow flower is also the basis for one of the world’s finest honey, the Sidr honey. The Musandam coast is renowned for its marine environment allowing for excellent diving and snorkeling experiences. Besides its colorful fish and corals, the Gulf of Oman is also home to green turtles, humpback dolphins, hammerhead sharks and the largest fish in the sea, the plankton feeding whale shark.
Our resort was designed to blend with the natural surroundings of Zighy Bay and the Musandam and was built according to old Omani traditional style. To ensure our operations are also in line with the environment and our immediate surroundings, we have an environmental management system in place which is based on the Six Senses’ Holistic Environmental Management Programme (HEMP). This combined with awareness raising campaigns and project support from the Six Senses Social and Environmental Fund (SERF); we hope to contribute to the sustainable development of the local community and help preserve this beautiful and unique place for many future generations to come.
