Eco Tourism

A lot of companies claim to practice eco-tourism or employ “green” practices.   How do you know if a company truly employs sustainable methods?

Currently there is no definition of sustainable tourism. Eco-certification organizations are on the rise. Many of them are just using lingo to attract tourists without providing the basis of a truly sustainable business venture.

At LiveWell Ventures, we are committed to healthy, sustainable practices, both at home/office and in our travel arrangements.  In our home and office, we do our best to preserve our natural habitat.  Helping our habitat allows us to continue to enjoy the great outdoors and it makes life on earth a little better!  For instance, Bonnie, one of our Travel Consultant/Eco-Cultural Specialists, telecommutes a few times a week to conserve on fuel. In addition to telecommuting, LiveWell Ventures  has a guest house that Bonnie stays in, as another way to eliminate the long commute she has to make to get to the office.

Not only do our employees make changes and commitments to their daily routines to help conserve the environment but LiveWell Ventures itself is eco-friendly. The LiveWell Ventures site has recently been certified as a National Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation. Also, our building is a renovated barn to conserve the environment further by eliminating the need and use of new building material.

It is the everyday little things that people do, that help make our environment cleaner and more efficient. Another thing we do here at LiveWell Ventures, is grow our own organic food and beef for our family and the office. As an office we dedicate a certain time to lunch, so that we can all eat at the same time. We eat the organic food that we produce; we also use reusable containers like house plates, to further reduce the use of wasted plastics and paper that are used in a bagged lunch.

When choosing our vendors, we strive to use and support those who practice sustainable means of living. Sustainable tourism and environments, is key to our choices, both ecologically and culturally.  We incorporate education, cooperative encounters and contributions, with the local demographic.  Supporting the resorts that have the same priorities, is our fundamental intention.  By directing business to resorts and tour operators, we support their preservation efforts, and provide you with a fulfilling program.
