Guided by Manuel "Caballito" Rodriguez, a local legendary diver and native of the area with 20 years experience, your adventure submerges you in sun, sand, culture .  A fantastic diving experience awaits you at either the Reviera Maya, Cozumel, or exploring the Cenotes of the Yucatan Pennensula,  Visit the Mayan world and learn from the ancients, the wisdom and philosophy of living in harmony with the environment.  Manuel is a native of Yucatan Pennensula, born in Tulum and raised in Medera.  He started diving at an early age and has acquired his PADI certification, is a full cave diver for NACO.He is also an advanced open water instructor for the SSI and TDI nitrox diver.

Suggested Itinerary for Mayan World 2010 

·          Day 1 Arrival to Cancun International airport and transfer to Chiquila where we will take the ferry or boat to Holbox Island. Travel time is about 2 ½ hrs from Cancun by van.  The van is equipped with a/c and a cooler with beverages (guests can request their favorite beer and sodas, let us know in advance). We will stay at Xaloc Ecoresort. 

·          Day 2 Whale shark safari.  Boat pick up at the beach of the hotel at 8 a.m.  The boat has a shade, cooling beverages, and snacks. The duration of the trip is 4 to 5 hrs. 

·          Day 3 Hammock potato day.  Relax at the beach or at one of the many hammocks of the resort.

·          Day 4 Pick up at the hotel at 9 a.m. and transportation to the mainland by ferry (30 min). To Ek Balam mayan Mayan ruins (1hr)  for a private guided tour by a certified bilingual Mayan guide ( 2 hrs).  After the ruins we will visit Cenote X’kekem (20 min away) where the guests have a chance to swim and cool off.  Later we visit the charming town of Valladolid (5 min away) for lunch and sightseeing.  3 p.m. departure for Merida (1 ½ hrs) where we check in at Casa Lucia Hotel.

·          Day 5 Celestun Biosphere (Flamingos).  Pickup time 9 a.m. Celestun is 1 hr away from Merida.  At the entrance of the town is the station where we will take the boat to the biosphere (2hr tour). Later we will visit the beach where we will have lunch and relax until the afternoon when we will return to Merida. 

·          Day 6 Palenque, Chiapas Pickup time 9 a.m. Travel time is 6 hours with as many stops as requested by our guests for meals or leg stretching.  Check in at the Hotel Villa Mercedes.  

·          Day 7 Palenque Mayan ruins pick up time 9 a.m. for a guided private tour by a bilingual expert guide of the zone (2hrs). The hotel is located 10 min away from the ruins by van.  After the ruins we departure to Misol-ha and Agua Azul waterfalls (1hr away) where we spend the rest of the day swimming and exploring. 

·          Day 8 San Cristobal de las Casas Depart at 10 a.m. after breakfast.  Travel time is 4 hours.  We check in at Hotel Casa Vieja and do some sightseeing around the town.  

·          Day 9 Canon del Sumidero national park.  Pickup at 9 a.m. for a 45 minute drive to the park.  We will take a private boat to visit the canyon for 2 hrs and then return to San Cristobal where in the afternoon we visit the local indigenes’ market.

 ·          Day 10 Tulum 9 a.m. pickup time for a 6 hour drive to Tulum with as many stops as needed.  The drive will be a scenic route to the Caribbean.  Check in Cabanas Copal Eco-resort located in the national park in Tulum.  The rooms are bungalow style facing the  sea.  

·         Day 11 Snorkeling Trip Pickup time 10 a.m. for the snorkeling trip of your choice either at the Mesoamerican Mayan barrier reef with lots of marine life and the chance to admire Mayan ruins from the sea or a cenote snorkel.  We can visit Gran Cenote and its beautiful caverns and Casa Cenote where the cenotes meet the sea. The tour duration is about 3 hrs. We recommend visiting the Mayan ruins located on a bluff overlooking the sea in the late afternoon after the many tour buses from the all inclusive resorts are gone. 

·         Day 12 Siaa’n Kaan biosphere tour 9 a.m. pick up time and transportation to the biosphere for a boat tour in the canals and lagoons.  We will also visit Xlapac a Mayan ruin in the middle of the mangroves and where will be jumping in the water for a nice floating relaxation swim.  Tour time 3-4 hours. 

·         Day 13 Playa del Carmen is located 45 min away from Tulum the check out time from the hotel is at 10 a.m.  We can stop in a remote beach for lunch and a swim, if desired.  Check in at Playa Palms resort at 3 p.m. where they will be staying in one bedroom junior suite ocean view room.  The hotel is located near the famous 5^th Avenue close to restaurants and shops.  The hotel is on the beach.

·         Day 14 packing and relaxing day. Diving and excursions available. 

·         Day 15 transport to airport.

For planning purposes I would need to know the exact days for the trip for pricing.  Given the amount of logistics involved and the different types of activities, I need to make sure things are arranged well in advance.

Please keep in mind that due to travel time between Cancun airport and Holbox Island it will be better if the guests arrive as early as possible during the day.  We can also adjust the itinerary schedule to suit the desires of the guests.
