Outline Itinerary (Festival of Light and Pushkar Fair November – 2010)

 

 

Day 01 (03rd November 2010) Arrive New Delhi

Garland welcome, assistance and transfer to prebooked hotel. Morning free. Afternoon sightseeing of Old Delhi and New Delhi to visit Red Fort, Jama Mosque, India Gate and parliament street. Back to hotel for overnight stay.

Note – Red Fort is closed on Every Monday.

 

 

Day 02 (04th November 2010) DelhiJodhpur

After early breakfast visit Qutub Minar. Later transfer to domestic airport to board flight (Dep 12.50 Arr 16.50 hrs) for Jodhpur. On arrival check in Hotel. In the evening explore local spice and shoe market.  O/n in Hotel.

 

 

Day 03 (05th November 2010) Jodhpur

After breakfast visit the massive 15thcentury Mehrangarh Fort which, together with its satellite red sandstone palaces and museum forms one of the most impressive complexes in Rajasthan. After that visit Ummaid Bhawan Palace and Jaswant Thada. In evening enjoy the festival of lights, Diwali , also called Dipawali.   O/n in Hotel.

 

Diwali - Diwali is popularly known as the "festival of lights", the most significant spiritual meaning is "The awareness of the inner light".The festival marks the victory of good over evil, and uplifting of spiritual darkness. It is mythology that Diwali is  celebrated on the occasion of the return of Rama, King of Ayodhya, with his wife Sita and brother Lakshmana to Ayodhya after a 14 year exile, and a war in which he killed Ravana. In the legend, the people of Ayodhya (the capital of his kingdom) welcomed Rama by lighting rows (avali) of lamps (dipa), thus its name became Dipawali. Today homes, houses, shops, temples, monuments & Street are lighted up.

 

 

Day 04 (06th November 2010) Jodhpur - Ranakpur

 After breakfast we drive to Ranakpur (about 140 kms. /04 hrs) renowned for some intricately carved 15th century Jain temples in white and amber marble, Ranakpur is one of the five holy places of the Jain community. Afternoon we will visit these architectural wonders, with their ornate pillars, serene images and cloistered courtyards dappled in patterns of light and shadow.  O/n in Hotel.

 

 

Day 05 (07th November 2010) Ranakpur  - Udaipur

After breakfast drive about (90-kms/03 hrs) to the romantic lake city of Udaipur, Set on the shores of Lake Pichola and surrounded by hills. Enroute visit Kumbhalgarh Fort in Aravali Hills. Sunset take a relaxing boat ride around Lake Pichola to view the old city, palaces and surrounding hills.  O/n in Hotel.

Day 06 (08th November 2010) Udaipur

After breakfast we make a short drive to visit the City Palace – The largest palace complex in Rajasthan. At the nearby, Jagdish Temple, there is an impressively carved image of Lord Vishnu, to whom the temple is dedicated.   Also continue your visit to the ornamental gardens of the Maids of Honor or Sahelion ki Bari. O/n in Hotel.

 

 

Day 07 (09th November 2010)            Udaipur – Chittorgarh - Bundi

After breakfast drive to Bundi (about 280 km /07 hrs) Enroute visit Chittorgarh Fort and Museum. Continue drive to Bundi. Evening take a walk in this interesting small town. On arrival check in hotel. O/n in Hotel.

 

 

Day 08 (10th November 2010) Bundi – Ranthambore

After breakfast visit Bundi and see Taragarh Fort. Taragarh is reached by steep road leading up the hillside to its enormous gateway. Later continue drive to Ranthambore (about 120 km/ 03 hrs). In afternoon check in Resort. Take a walk to natural surroundings and a temple. O/n in Resort.

 

Ranthambore National Park – Located in south-west Rajasthan, where the Vindhayas and the Aravalli Hills meet, the Ranthambore National Park is bound by the rivers Chambal, in the south, and Banas, in the north. The wildlife sanctuary is characterized by rocky plains, flat hilltops, gentle slopes and precipitous cliffs, covered by dry deciduous forests. Ranthambore is virtually an island rich in flora and fauna in an ocean of villages, farmland and over grazed arid land.   

 

 

Day 09 (11th November 2010) Ranthambore National Park

Early Morning and evening Jungle safari with naturalist. O/n in Resort.

 

 

Day 10 (12th November 2010) Ranthambore – Pushkar

Morning game drive with naturalist and after breakfast drive to Pushkar (250 km / 06 hrs) Known for its famous Pushkar Camel festival. Pushkar is one of the prominent sacred destinations in India. There are numerous temples along the banks of the Pushkar Lake. Pushkar is also known for only Brahma temple in India. Upon arrival to Pushkar. Check-in Camp. O/n in Camp.

 

Pushkar Fair – Pushkar Fair is the world's largest camel fair held in the holy town of Pushkar in Rajasthan. This Cattle Fair, a festival of sound and colour, is held annually on the banks of Lake Pushkar. Nestling on the edge of the desert, this small place transforms itself from a peaceful, rural community, into a vast tented village with a lively, colouful and noisy market place. Competitions such as the "Matka Phod", "moustache", and "bridal competition" are the main attractions of this fair, which attract thousands of tourists. A spotlight of one's holiday in India, the festival hosts around 50,000 camels, which are sold, decorated, shaved and raced.

 

 

Day 11 (13th November 2010) Pushkar

After breakfast visit Pushkar and see Branma Temple near the Pushkar Lake. Later enjoy Pushkar Camel Fair.  O/n in Camp.

 

Day 12 (14th November 2010) Pushkar – Jaipur

After early breakfast drive to Jaipur (about 120 km /03 hrs).  On arrival check in hotel. Later visit pink city and see Amber Fort ascending by elephant to see the 16th century hilltop fortress - Palace and its richly decorated apartments. City palace, Jantar Matar (astronomical observatory) and Hawa Mahal (Palace of wind).  Back to hotel. O/n in Hotel.

Note - Elephant ride is subject to availability.

 

 

Day 13 (15th November 2010) Jaipur – Agra

After Early breakfast drive to Agra (about 240 Km 05 hrs). Enroute visit Fatehpur Sikri (The capital city of Mughal). On arrival check in hotel.. In evening visit Agra Fort. Back to hotel. O/n in Hotel.

 

 

Day 14 (16th November 2010) AgraDelhi – IGI Airport

Early morning sunrise visit to India's most celebrated monument - the Taj Mahal - built by Emperor Shah Jahan, as a testimonial of his eternal love for his queen Mumtaz. Later breakfast drive Delhi (about 205 Km/ about 05 hrs). Enroute visit Sikandra. (The Mausoleum of Great Akbar) On arrival in Delhi transfer to hotel near airport for wash and change and after dinner in a local restaurant transfer to international airport to board flight for your home country.

Note – Taj Mahal is closed on every Friday.
